On the 7th March 2025, Makerere University’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe, accompanied by over 10 Heads of Science Colleges and Faculties, visited the Machining Manufacturing Industrial Skills Development Centre, Namanve campus.
This collaborative effort is the result of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between UIRI and Makerere University, aimed at exploring ways to expand research areas and foster a deeper understanding between the two institutions.
The visit aimed to explore joint research areas, promote industrial innovations from the university, and establish a working relationship for research projects. This strategic partnership seeks to leverage the strengths of both institutions, driving progress and economic growth in Uganda. Makerere University is committed to becoming a research-led institution, and this collaboration with UIRI marks a significant milestone in achieving this goal. As the center of excellence in Research and Development of Industry in Uganda, UIRI is poised to support the university’s research endeavors.
