On the 7th March 2025, Makerere University's Vice Chancellor, Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe, accompanied by over 10 Heads of Science Colleges and Faculties, visited the Machining Manufacturing Industrial Skills Development Centre, Namanve campus.

In November 2023, Uganda Industrial Research Institute (UIRI) in partnership with Caritas Uganda conducted a two weeks training of 120 participants in the Bidi Bidi Settlement and host communities in Yumbe District.

The Deputy Speaker of the 11th Parliament, Rt. Hon Thomas Tayebwa paid a courtesy visit to UIRI’s MMISDC-Namanve and was received by the Executive Director, Prof. Charles Kwesiga who presented to him and his team the Institute’s past, present, and future.
Uganda Industrial Research Institute (UIRI) celebrated 20 years since its establishment by the 2002 Act of Parliament. As a government parastatal, the institute has over the years transitioned into a competence and capacity-building center that champions innovations and translates applied research results into practical applications.
