In November 2023, Uganda Industrial Research Institute (UIRI) in partnership with Caritas Uganda conducted a two weeks training of 120 participants in the Bidi Bidi Settlement and host communities in Yumbe District.

The training that took place in 3 zones of the settlement and two host communities aimed at equipping refugees, Women, and Youth with skills and knowledge to enable them start Income Generating projects in the areas of Bakery, Turmeric, Tomato, and Fruit juice processing through value addition trainings.

The methodologies used in conducting these trainings were theoretical and practical with major emphasis on hands-on practice in Product development for market and home usage.

All the trainees were given an opportunity to make their own products for future developments in their respective communities
