Job Summary
The Head PDU manages all operations and activities of the Procurement and Disposal Unit by ensuring timely and cost-effective acquisition of goods, services and works, in accordance with the laid down policies and procedures, and the relevant procurement and disposal laws of Uganda.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and coordinate Procurement and Disposal activities in accordance with applicable laws and regulations
- Consider and commend procurement work plans in line with the Institute`s mandate, approved budget and general guidelines of PPDA to management.
- Lead and develop the PDU team professionally as part of performance management practice.
- Prepare and present procurement reports to senior management
- Identify and mitigate procurement-related risks, ensuring that UIRI’s interests are protected
- Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Executive Director from time to time.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Procurement and Supply Chain Management or similar discipline from a recognized Institution.
- Proven knowledge of Public Procurement & Disposal Laws and Regulations of Uganda
- Minimum of seven (07) years of experience in procurement and supply chain management, with at least 3 years in a leadership role, preferably within the public sector
- Master’s Degree in Procurement and Supply Chain Management or related discipline from a recognized Institution is an added advantage.
- Professional certification in procurement (CIPS, CPP, etc)
