Uganda Industrial Research Institute (UIRI) officially commissioned St. Stephen Katakwi Textiles Skills Development Centre in Katakwi. The ceremony was presided over by Her Excellency, the Vice President of Uganda, Jessica Alupo.
This landmark event represents a major stride in advancing industrialization and skills development within the region. Initially established by St. Stephen Catholic Parish Katakwi, the centre was later integrated into UIRI’s portfolio, reflecting a strong partnership aimed at empowering individuals with practical skills in textile production. By equipping local residents with these competencies, the centre is poised to contribute significantly to Uganda’s economic growth and development.
The commissioning underscores UIRI’s ongoing dedication to fostering innovation, entrepreneurship, and industrial advancement in Uganda.
