
On Friday, 17 July 2026, UIRI's Namanve Campus hosted a high-profile delegation from the Presidential CEO Forum during an informational tour of Namanve Industrial Park. The delegation was led by Hon. Sanjay Tanna, Minister of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives, and included Hon. David Bahati, Minister of State for Trade; Dr. Ruth Biyinzika of the Private Sector Foundation Uganda (PSFU); Mrs. Irene Birungi, CEO of the Presidential CEO Forum; chief executives of companies operating within the Park; and other dignitaries.
UIRI Executive Director Prof. Charles Kwesiga led the delegation on a guided tour of UIRI's innovations as part of engagements on Uganda's Industrialization Agenda. During the tour, Prof. Kwesiga highlighted the Institute's incubation programme and showcased locally developed technologies and products that are already contributing to the industrial value chain.
The Minister expressed great admiration for the quality of products emerging from UIRI's incubation programme, remarking: "For UIRI there is a lot of technologies and innovations to see, it needs an entire day, I pledge to come back." He also pledged support for infrastructure improvements at Namanve Industrial Park, reaffirming the government's commitment to industrialization and local innovation.
The visit strengthened collaboration between government, industry and UIRI, with participants discussing ways to scale up support for innovators, improve park infrastructure and accelerate the commercialization of locally developed technologies.
