Business Incubation

UIRI's Business Incubation Program nurtures promising entrepreneurs and early-stage businesses into competitive and sustainable enterprises.

Transforming ideas into industrial success

UIRI's Business Incubation Programme is designed to nurture promising entrepreneurs and early-stage businesses into competitive and sustainable enterprises. The programme supports innovation beyond the idea stage by helping products, services and enterprises move toward the market.

Why join the UIRI incubation programme?

The incubation programme gives entrepreneurs access to technical capacity, business development support and collaborative networks that can strengthen enterprise growth.

  • Access to modern UIRI facilities, equipment and laboratories for product design, development and refinement
  • Technical and business mentorship from UIRI's multidisciplinary teams of scientists, engineers and business specialists
  • Business development support for business plans, marketing strategies, value chains and financial forecasts
  • Collaborative networks with innovators, potential partners, funders and industry experts

Incubation models that fit enterprise needs

Business incubation is organised into in-house and virtual models so entrepreneurs can receive support either on-site at UIRI or remotely from across Uganda.

  • In-house incubation: hosted at UIRI headquarters with close supervision, access to on-site resources and collaborative innovation spaces
  • Virtual incubation: remote mentorship, product development support and technical consulting suited to the entrepreneur's operating context

Skills training and capacity building

Beyond incubation, UIRI provides hands-on training in technical and vocational areas that support Uganda's industrial transformation. The training focus strengthens value addition, livelihoods and practical production capacity. Please confirm current schedules, fees and dates with UIRI before applying.
