UIRI's Chemistry Laboratory is one of the country's best-equipped laboratories, providing testing facilities to food scientists, researchers, exporters, manufacturers, pharmacists and the general public.

The laboratory supports research and innovation within the institute while providing high-quality product development and material analytical services to the private sector.

Public Test House

Authoritative testing against agreed specifications

The Public Test House follows the internationally recognized concept of a non-regulatory public testing facility able to test products against agreed specifications and produce authoritative test certificates in confidence.

Development programmes

Government and regional research support

The chemistry laboratory identifies and participates in regional and national development initiatives, including work connected to food fortification and micronutrient testing standards.

It also aims to increase capability for more sophisticated and larger-volume scientific work through equipment repair and upgrades, systems implementation, and training and human capacity development.
