Division profile

Technology integration and ICT infrastructure

The Information and Communication Technology Services Division at Uganda Industrial Research Institute plays a crucial role in enabling technological integration and innovation across the Institute.

The division manages and enhances UIRI's ICT infrastructure and services, ensuring they meet the needs of internal users and external stakeholders.

Networks and systems

Managing institutional networks and communication platforms

ICT Services manages the Institute's computer networks, including local area networks, network servers, and the Industry Resource Centre and Business Development Centre computer networks.

The division also oversees the hosted email domain to support communication within the Institute.

Communication infrastructure

Hardware, software and operational support

The division maintains and upgrades communication infrastructure, including teleconferencing facilities and user hardware such as telephones, scanners, projectors, printers, data storage devices, fax machines and modems.

It also supports the functionality and security of software and computer programs that are critical to the Institute's operations.

ICT solutions

Desktop publishing and operational efficiency

ICT Services supports the Institute through a dedicated desktop publishing facility that helps meet documentation and publication needs.

The division also provides ICT-based solutions tailored to enhance operational efficiency across UIRI.

Business Development Centre

ICT adoption, business guidance and training

The Business Development Centre under ICT Services offers tailored services to empower businesses at different stages of growth.

The centre provides guidance, training and ICT adoption strategies that support industrialization and entrepreneurship in Uganda.

Interested individuals or organizations can express interest in BDC services by writing to UIRI and indicating the service area they require.

After receiving the communication, the BDC team follows up to schedule an appointment for further discussion and guidance.
