UIRI's analytical laboratory facilities support quality assurance for products developed in-house and products processed in communities.

The laboratories include microbiology, food and chemistry facilities, and are continuously remodeled to meet national and international standards as well as the needs of food scientists, researchers, exporters, manufacturers, pharmacists and the general public.

Microbiological analytical services

The Microbiology Laboratory was established to assist product development and provide microbiological analytical services.

Its work supports in-built quality in products and processes, demonstrates compliance with national and international quality requirements, and provides analytical services to industry.

Chemistry

Testing facilities for research, industry and the public

UIRI's Chemistry Laboratory provides testing facilities to food scientists, researchers, exporters, manufacturers, pharmacists and the general public.

The laboratory supports research, innovation, product development and material analytical services for private sector actors in food, mineral and pharmaceutical industries.

Food product research and development

The Food Laboratory is UIRI's focal point in food product research and development, with work spanning the product cycle from ideation through commercialization.

The laboratory applies modern technologies including freeze-drying, ultrasonic raw milk analysis, rapid plate freezing, modified atmospheric packaging and fluidized bed drying.
