Dr. Joshua Mutambi serves as the Commissioner for Processing and Marketing at Uganda's Ministry of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives. He holds a Licentiate Degree in Technoscience Studies from Blekinge Institute of Technology in Sweden, an MSc in Machine Manufacturing and Automation from Shanghai University in China, and a BSc in Mechanical Engineering from Makerere University.
His doctoral research focused on using open innovation business incubators to drive industrialization in Uganda.
With extensive experience in industrial policy, science and technology innovation systems, and competitiveness strategies, Dr. Mutambi has led the development of Uganda's National Industrial Policy and National Textile Policy. He pioneered the One Village One Product (OVOP) programme in Uganda and serves as its National Coordinator.
He has also driven regional strategies within the EAC and COMESA, published widely on innovation clusters and SME development, and is a registered professional engineer and member of international competitiveness networks.
